When grandparents visit: Embracing late-night chats vs. protecting my evening wind-down
My in-laws drop by every few months, and they're total night owls... we end up sipping tea and swapping stories until the wee hours. On one hand, these late-night chats are golden for family connection, something you can't replicate during busy days. But on the flip side, my carefully crafted evening wind-down goes out the window, and I'm a zombie the next morning. Last visit, we lingered past 2 AM, and I had to coordinate a crew for a major plumbing emergency at dawn... it was rough. So I'm torn: do I cherish these sporadic, heartfelt moments even if they cost me rest, or should I politely cut things short to protect my nighttime stability? How do you all balance family time with your own need for solid rest when relatives stay over?
