Warning: I just chose a $40 bottle of fancy finishing salt over a new paring knife and I'm not sure I won

The Maldon flakes are amazing on steak, but my old knife is so dull it's basically a butter spreader now. Anyone else ever picked the flavor upgrade over the basic tool and regretted it later?

Oh man, that's the perfect example! It's like we're all trying to buy a tiny piece of a fancy life while the basics fall apart. My fancy pepper grinder sits right next to a drawer full of broken spatulas. The worst part is you use the dumb can opener every single day and just sigh!
