Vent: My local diner put avocado on their meatloaf special last week

I went to Lou's Diner on Main Street and ordered their Wednesday meatloaf, but it came with a big slice of avocado on top. The cook said it was 'elevated comfort food' and charged an extra $3.50 for it. Has anyone else seen a classic dish get ruined by a trendy add-on like this?

That's a classic bait and switch right there. Next time, ask for the menu price before they plate it. I'd tell the cook to keep his avocado and just give me the normal meatloaf, no extra charge. Places pull that stuff hoping you won't complain.

Honestly that avocado thing feels like a symptom of everything now. Like my grocery store started selling "deconstructed" salsa that's just chopped veggies in separate containers for twice the price. It's not even about the food anymore, it's just slapping a buzzword on something basic.

Stop acting like this is some huge societal crisis, dude. It's just a dumb pricing gimmick. Tbh grocery stores have been pulling this kind of nonsense for decades, it's not some new deep trend. Ngl you're acting like the avocado price tag has some philosophical meaning when it's literally just a store trying to make a buck. Yeah it's annoying, but it's not that serious. Just don't buy the overpriced chopped veggies and move on. People act like every minor inconvenience is a sign of the apocalypse.
