Tried making sourdough from a trendy recipe last month and ended up with a brick. My kitchen in Austin looked like a flour bomb went off.

Honestly it's just bread. The whole sourdough obsession seems overblown. You can get a perfectly good loaf at the store without turning your kitchen into a disaster zone.

Remember Dylan's smoke alarm story? My last attempt was so bad the dog wouldn't even eat it. I get Troy's point about the store, but there's a weird pride in finally getting that one decent loaf after ten failures. My kitchen in Dallas has seen more flour on the floor than in the bowl. It's a messy hobby for sure, but that first successful slice feels like a real win.
