My wife put ketchup on a $40 ribeye and I'm not mad about it

We went to a steakhouse in Phoenix for our anniversary last month. I ordered a prime ribeye, cooked medium rare. It was perfect. Then she asked the waiter for ketchup. I almost died inside. She put a big dollop right on the plate and dipped every bite. I tried a piece her way, just to see. Honestly? It wasn't bad. Sweet and tangy with the salty beef. Totally changed my view on 'steak rules'. Has anyone else had a food pairing they were taught to hate that actually worked?

My grandma puts ketchup on her scrambled eggs every single morning. The way some people act about food rules, you'd think she was committing a crime. It's just a condiment. I used to get annoyed when my friend put ranch on pizza, but then I tried it. It's fine. People get way too worked up over how other folks enjoy their food.

Is it really worth getting upset over how someone seasons their eggs? People act like there's some official rulebook for food, but everyone's taste buds are different. I get being surprised by weird combos, but making a big deal out of it just seems like a waste of energy. Let the grandma enjoy her ketchup in peace.

But does anyone actually get that upset about it in real life?
