My local diner's 'famous' chili cheese fries are a total letdown

I had to choose between their chili cheese fries and a classic bacon cheeseburger last Friday. I went with the fries because everyone online raves about them, but they were just a soggy, lukewarm mess for $14. Has anyone else tried them and gotten a decent batch, or should I just stick to the burger?

Ugh, classic. Their "famous" secret is just letting it sit under a heat lamp.

Right? How many places get away with that trick? I swear I went to a spot that bragged about their slow cooked ribs for hours, but the meat was dry as a bone. You could tell it just sat there all day. Isn't it just lazy?

Did your buddy actually call them out on it? I had a mate who worked at a BBQ spot and he told me they'd reheat stuff in the microwave then slap a fresh coat of sauce on it. Customers loved it, go figure.
