Just dropped $25 on a jar of fancy truffle salt and it's the biggest scam in my kitchen
Saw it at the specialty market, thought it would make my scrambled eggs taste like a million bucks. Used a pinch, tasted like I licked a sweaty gym bag that someone spilled salt on. Tried it on popcorn, fries, even a steak, same weird fake earthy funk every time. The jar is just sitting there now, mocking me from the spice rack. For that price I could have bought three whole chickens. Anyone else get burned by a 'gourmet' ingredient that just tastes awful?

My $30 truffle oil is still in the back of the pantry.

Yeah, heat kills truffle flavor. Use it cold on popcorn next time.

Man, that's rough. Did you check the ingredients list on that jar? I got burned once by something similar, turned out it was just salt with "truffle flavor" which is a chemical. Real truffle salt should have little bits of actual truffle in it. If it doesn't, you basically paid for fancy smelling salt.
