Had to pick between a $12 avocado toast or a $4 bagel with cream cheese at a cafe in Portland.

I went for the toast because it looked so good in the picture, but it was just okay, not worth the price at all. The bagel my friend got looked way better and he seemed really happy with it. Anyone else feel like avocado toast gets way too much hype for what it is?

But have you actually tried it plain? It's just mushy green stuff on soggy bread, and it costs way too much for what you get. The whole thing feels like a trend people follow because they're told it's cool, not because it tastes good. I'd rather have real food that fills me up without all the fuss. Why pay extra for something so basic?
