Swapped my face wash and saw results in 2 weeks

I was using a foaming cleanser with salicylic acid for months and my skin was still breaking out around my chin. Finally tried a non foaming oil based cleanser from a local shop in Austin. After 14 days my texture was way smoother and my redness calmed down a lot. The foaming stuff was stripping my barrier without me realizing it. Has anyone else switched cleanser types and seen a big difference like that?

Did you notice any purging or weirdness in the first few days when you switched, or did it just quietly fix things? I think that "barrier repair" thing gets thrown around a lot but the real proof is when your chin stops flaring up like that. It would help to know if you changed anything else in your routine around the same time.

Used to be a total skeptic about that whole barrier repair thing... thought it was just marketing fluff to sell expensive creams. But after this switch I'm actually changing my mind. My chin was that same angry red mess every few days no matter what I tried, even cut out all actives for a month with zero change. Swapped to this new routine and by day three the tightness and stinging just stopped, which I never expected. Nothing else in my routine changed except the moisturizer and cleanser, so it's hard to argue it was a coincidence. The flaking on my chin is basically gone now and I've had maybe one tiny zit in three weeks instead of the usual rotation of three or four.
