My friend's BBQ became an impromptu skin advice panel

I was at a cookout last weekend when someone found out I'm an esthetician. Suddenly, everyone was asking me about their acne and wrinkles right there by the grill. It was pretty funny but also a bit overwhelming. Has this ever happened to you all? How do you handle when friends expect free tips at social events?

Just keep a go-to simple tip ready, like mentioning sunscreen. It helps without turning your chill time into work hours.

Remember getting cornered at a wedding once. People asked about dark circles while we were eating cake. It's not just overwhelming, it feels like your off time is not valued. I started saying 'Let's chat tomorrow' to move the talk away. That way, I help but keep my personal space. Works most times unless someone really pushes.

Oh totally, the grill-side consultation is a real thing (happens at every family gathering for me). I've started keeping a couple of my favorite drugstore product names in my back pocket to share quickly, like a specific gentle cleanser, which usually satisfies people without turning into a full session. It lets me be helpful but still enjoy my burger.
