Just realized my steamer's safety valve failed during a facial last Thursday
It started hissing and spraying hot water at my client's feet, so I had to quickly unplug it and finish with warm towels, but has anyone else had a safety valve go bad on a Crystal Clear steamer after about 2 years?

Did you check the warranty period first?

Heard the same thing from a friend who runs a salon... her Crystal Clear steamer did the exact same thing right around the two year mark. She said the valve just gets clogged with mineral deposits over time and then it can't release pressure right. Ended up replacing the whole valve assembly herself after watching a video, but it was a hassle. Makes me wonder if they use a cheap part there.

Oh perfect, another "planned to break" part. Two years is suspiciously specific. I bet the warranty is just 18 months, so @dylan_bell is onto something there. They probably priced out the repair cost versus a new unit and called it a feature. My cousin's did the same thing, total junk move by the company.
