Is gentle extractions always better? Had a debate with a client that made me question everything.

A regular client told me she prefers her old esthetician because they dug deep into her pores and got everything out, even if it hurt. I've always preached gentle work to avoid scarring, but she said the results from the aggressive method lasted way longer. Do you think there's a middle ground, or is one approach just wrong for skin health?

My old boss at the clinic in Denver argued that gentle work is just a trend and that real results come from getting in there and breaking up the deep congestion, even if it leaves you red for a day or two. If the client's skin can handle it and heals clean, maybe the aggressive method isn't wrong, it's just a different tradeoff.

22 years in and I still mess up hands sometimes so I snapped a nail on a client last week trying to prove a point about gentle work. @joseph_adams66 I get what your old boss was saying, but I've seen too many people come in with permanent divots from someone going ham on their face. That said, your client is right that aggressive extraction can clear things deeper for longer, so I'll admit there's a middle ground for thick skin types who don't scar easily.
