Warning: don't try to take a Zoom call from a rooftop in Bali during rainy season

I was in Canggu last month, set up on this sweet hostel rooftop with the ocean view, ready for a client call. Mid-sentence a huge gust of wind blew my laptop off the table and it landed screen-down on the wet tile. Has anyone else had a tech disaster in a "picture perfect" workspace while traveling?

Maybe it's less about the location and more about how we're all pretending these setups are actually functional. I see people posting these dreamy laptop-on-a-cliff photos but nobody shows the power strip daisy chain or the guy swatting monkeys away from his modem. Rainy season in Bali is no joke, I watched a friend's dongle literally corrode in 20 minutes of humidity. We're all chasing this idea that nature and productivity mix but really we're just fighting entropy with a weak WiFi signal.

Right? Nobody's posting the photo of them elbow deep in a wet router trying to get the thing to boot up. I've got a buddy who claims he's "working from the beach" but really he's just sweating through a t-shirt while his laptop overheats.

Same thing happened to me in Ubud, laptop went straight into a rice paddy.
