Tried coworking in a hostel in Chiang Mai last month and got zero work done

I thought it'd be a great way to save money and meet people, but the wifi cut out every 20 minutes and a guy was taking Zoom calls on speaker next to me. Ended up spending $15 extra a day on a proper cafe just to hit deadlines. Has anyone found a hostel that actually works for remote work?

Tbh I don't get why people act like working from a hostel is some big disaster. Wifi cuts out every 20 minutes? Cool, take a walk and grab a coffee, not the end of the world. Guy on speaker? Put on headphones or move to a different spot. $15 a day on a cafe sounds like you were already fine anyway. Hostels are hostels, they're not gonna be a silent library with fiber optic internet. Just adjust your expectations and stop acting like it ruined your whole trip.

Is it really that serious though? Like, people act like they're filing their taxes from a war zone, not just trying to check some emails in a dorm room.

Read somewhere that digital nomad visas are actually starting to REQUIRE proof of stable income and accommodation, which is funny because half the people complaining probably don't even have a real job anyway.
