Switched from coworking spaces to coffee shops after a bad month in Medellin

Back in January I was paying $250 a month for a hot desk at WeWork in Laureles. Thought I needed that setup to stay productive. Then my internet went down for three days straight and I couldn't get any work done. Now I just rotate between three local cafes with solid wifi and spend maybe $60 a month on coffee. Anyone else ditch the coworking pass for something cheaper and end up happier?

You said you switched after "my internet went down for three days straight" - did the cafe wifi ever crap out on you at a bad moment or did that not worry you after coworking?

The third day of that outage I was scrambling at a Starbucks two towns over when their router died mid-zoom call (right as I was accepting a project, of course). After that I just started keeping a cheap mobile hotspot in my bag as a backup, makes the coworking switch feel way less risky.
