My internet setup went from nightmare to dream in 3 weeks in Medellin

I moved into this apartment near El Poblado and the wifi was trash - like 5 Mbps on a good day. A local coworking guy told me to get a 4G router with an external antenna and point it out the window toward the cell tower. After $60 and some fiddling with the angle, I hit 50 Mbps steady. Has anyone else found a simple gear swap that fixed their connection issues in a foreign city?

I used to roll my eyes at antenna setups but that 4G router idea is honestly brilliant.

Glad you're not rolling your eyes anymore but it's actually a cellular router not a standard 4G router. Small difference but the good ones have better modem chips and handle signal way better than a phone hotspot. Once you get one set up with a good antenna it's hard to go back to cable.
