Mobile data used to be my go-to, until a crucial call dropped
I always relied on my phone's hotspot for work on the road. It was cheap and easy. But last week, during a video meeting with a big client, the signal cut out. I missed important details and had to apologize. Now I'm investing in a local SIM card and backup wifi options. It's more hassle, but worth it for reliable connections. What's your backup plan for internet fails?

Carry two phones on different networks. My main phone is Verizon but I keep an old T-Mobile prepaid as a backup. If one signal drops, I just switch the hotspot. It costs a bit extra but saves me when I'm out in the sticks.

Seriously, you pay for two full phone plans just to have a backup hotspot? That sounds like a huge hassle and extra cost every month. I can't believe you need that much reliability unless you're constantly in dead zones. @jadew63, how bad is your service that this setup is worth it? I would just deal with slow data or find wifi instead of carrying a second device. Would you ever consider dropping the backup phone if networks improved?

Used to think carrying a backup was overkill until my main phone died during a roadside breakdown. Couldn't call a tow or look up the shop, just sat there for an hour. Now I keep a cheap prepaid in the glove box. It's not about daily dead zones, it's about that one time you're totally stuck.
