Met a guy in a Bali coworking space who changed how I handle client calls

I was working out of this place near Canggu called Dojo, and this older nomad named Tom sat next to me. He overheard me stressing over a time zone mix-up and said ‘just record your first response instead of hopping on a live call.’ It saved me like 3 hours a week since I started doing it last month. Have any of you found simple tricks like that to cut down on live meetings?

I actually saw a similar tip from some remote work blog about using Loom for client stuff. 'Record your first response' is the exact phrase they used, it cuts down on scheduling back and forth. I mean it's not perfect for everything but it def helps with the simple check-ins.

Wait, @rileynelson you're telling me someone actually wrote a whole blog post about recording your first response instead of just replying? That is WILD to me. I mean, I get the idea of cutting down on scheduling but recording a video for a simple check-in feels like OVERKILL. Half the time my clients just need a quick "yes" or "no" and a sentence, not a full video production. But I guess if it works for some people, whatever floats their boat. Just seems like a LOT of effort for something that could be a two line email.
