Just noticed how many nomads skip getting travel health insurance

I was at a coworking space in Medellin last week and three different people told me they don't carry travel health insurance because it's too expensive. One guy said he paid $35 a month for a policy that covers emergencies in 40 countries. That's less than two fancy coffees here. I've seen two travelers get hit with $500 hospital bills for simple stuff like food poisoning. Has anyone else run into people not bothering with this?

Honestly that $35 policy sounds like a solid deal though.

Wait, isn't $35 actually a steal for that kind of coverage? I signed up for a similar plan last month and it covers way more than I expected without any hidden fees. Honestly feels like one of those rare times where a deal actually holds up.

@alice336 you're right its a good deal but $35 is the intro price for the first few months. Mine jumped to $60 after the trial period. Still worth it but people gotta read the fine print.
