I'm not buying the 'just get a local SIM' advice anymore

I mean, maybe it's just me but I got stuck in Lisbon for a full day trying to get a SIM because my passport number didn't match their system right. Has anyone else found a better way to handle phone data without the store hassle?

Yeah, I get that feeling too. Just trying to buy groceries or sort out a bill feels like a whole project now. It's like there's an extra step or a new fee for everything.
