Hit $5k in monthly passive income last month and it still feels fake
I started this digital nomad thing 3 years ago bouncing between hostels in Chiang Mai. Somehow my online courses and affiliate stuff finally crossed $5,000 in one month, which is more than I ever made at my old desk job in Cleveland. But every time I check the bank account I keep waiting for it to drop back to zero. Has anyone else hit a money milestone that felt completely unreal at first?

The part nobody talks about is how your spending habits actually get WORSE when the money feels fake. Like I caught myself blowing $400 on a co-working space day pass in Bali because "it's not real money anyway." That mindset almost wrecked me until I realized I was treating passive income like Monopoly cash while my real bank account was getting drained. Had to set up a separate account that auto-transfers 60% to savings before I ever even see the number in my checking. The fake feeling is dangerous because it makes you irresponsible with the exact thing you've been chasing.

Still bracing for the rug pull myself, man. I remember hitting my first real month with 4k and I kept refreshing the Stripe dashboard like it was gonna glitch out and show me a big fat zero. I even took a screenshot to send my mom just to prove I wasn't making it up, ha.

Did you ever read that Tim Ferriss piece where he talks about how your brain takes like 6 months to actually accept a new income level as real? That's exactly what this feels like.
