Stood in a Starbucks in Seattle for 20 minutes watching their mobile order system fail

Everyone raves about mobile ordering for fast coffee, but I saw 12 people crowd the pickup counter waiting for drinks that never came through. Has anyone else seen these systems actually hurt foot traffic in real stores?

Twelve people standing around waiting? That's a mess. Watched a guy at our local Caribou last week tap his phone for five minutes while the barista just pointed at a stack of cups nobody claimed. The whole point of ordering ahead is to skip the line, not join a different one. Seems like they push these apps to look modern without testing if they actually work when the lunch rush hits.

Did they end up finding whose order it was?

Right? At that point you're basically just paying the app to stand around confused with everyone else, @barbaraw47. Nothing says "convenience" like a digital line that works worse than the real one.
