My old boss in Dayton told me to stop chasing new followers in 2021, and he was right
Back in 2021 I ran social ads for a small furniture shop in Dayton and I was obsessed with follower count. My boss Ray pulled me aside and said to stop it and just email the 400 people who already bought something, so I tried a simple post purchase email and 9 people came back and bought again within a month. The ad spend was $600 for maybe 2 real sales. What's the return rate you actually track, repeat buyers or new eyeballs?
Man, that ad spend to actual sales gap is brutal and I feel you on that. Ray sounds like he knew what he was doing, because 400 past buyers are worth way more than 10k randoms scrolling past. Repeat buyers and open rates are the only numbers I even bother looking at now.
