Blew $800 on a retargeting campaign last month when I should have fixed the landing page first
Had a client in Columbus selling custom furniture. I could either put my budget into Facebook retargeting or build new landing pages. I picked the ads because it felt faster. Got 1,200 clicks and a 0.4% conversion rate because the page still loaded in 6 seconds on mobile. We rebuilt the page in a weekend and conversions jumped to 3.1% with zero ad spend change. Anyone else made this mistake or is it just me?
Honestly I read somewhere that most ad money gets wasted because people skip the basics and blame the ads later. A 6 second load time was probably killing you the whole time, so smart move rebuilding the page first.
