Blew $500 on influencers that did nothing for my store

I paid a girl with 50k followers $300 for a post about my yoga gear and got like 2 sales from it. Then I spent another $200 on a micro influencer with 8k followers who actually sent me back real photos and drove 40 clicks. Big numbers don't mean anything if the audience isn't engaged. Anyone else burned cash on followers that turned out to be mostly bots?

Yeah the 8k follower one sounds like they actually built a real audience. Next time check their engagement rate not just the follower count.

Hear, hear" on that engagement rate tip. I swear half these "influencers" with 50k followers are just bots reposting each other's stuff in a giant circle of nothing. The 8k one probably felt like finding a unicorn that actually knew how to edit a reel without looking like a PowerPoint presentation from 2004. Check the ratio, it's basically the only metric that matters these days (well, that and if they respond to comments without a bot script). Glad someone in this thread actually got their money's worth.

Yeah I read somewhere that anything under 3% engagement on Instagram is basically dead air, so the 8k one probably had real people watching. You got lucky finding one that actually delivered.
