Tried a writing prompt about a haunted laundromat and got 30 responses in one day

I threw a quick prompt on here about a guy finding an old receipt in a laundromat dryer that kept appearing no matter how many times he threw it away. The replies blew up with people sharing their own creepy parallel stories, way more than any of my fantasy or sci-fi prompts ever did. Has anyone else noticed horror prompts get way more traction than other genres here?

Man I gotta push back on that. Horror prompts get traction because they rely on cheap jump scares and cliche tropes that anyone can throw together in five minutes, not because they're actually better written or more creative. Fantasy and sci-fi prompts take real worldbuilding and thought to get right which is why fewer people jump in, but the ones who do usually produce way more interesting and original stuff. The laundromat key thing is just a recycled campfire story people love to feel creeped out by, not a sign that horror is the superior genre here.

My buddy found a random key taped under a laundromat dryer once. He threw it away in the trash can outside but it was back under the same dryer the next day. He never went back after that.
