The moment I saw my old writing vs my new writing side by side

I was digging through an old hard drive last night and found a story I wrote back in 2019. Compared it to something I finished last week and it was like two different people wrote them. My old stuff had so many adjectives and flowery descriptions that went nowhere. The new version just gets to the point faster and the dialogue actually sounds like real people talking. Has anyone else looked back at their early writing and cringed at how different it feels now?

That's the point when you realize writing is just editing yourself over time.

Not sure I buy that @finleyw88. Some people just type and it works. Maybe overthinking it makes it worse. Editing is just fixing typos and bad wording for me.
