Spent 2 hours staring at a blank page for my Tuesday writers group until I tried the grocery list trick
I was stuck on a prompt about a character finding a locked door, so I grabbed my actual grocery list, wrote down milk, batteries, and a birthday card for my niece, and somehow turned those three random items into a whole scene where the guy realizes the door leads to a room full of stuff his dead mom left for him, and now I want to know if anyone else steals from their own boring to-do lists when the prompts dry up.
Milk, batteries, and a birthday card turning into a dead mom's secret room is honestly better than half the stuff people pay for in writing courses. Guess the real trick is that our brains work harder when we're bored out of our minds.
