I'd rewritten her opening scene five times and she still didn't talk to anyone, so a guy in the group told me to write her arguing with a customer over a wrong coffee order, just once, no outline. Two weeks later the whole story is her complaining about everything and I can't shut her up, has a prompt ever done that to a character you liked quiet?
The whole story is her complaining about everything now, huh? That's what you get for teaching her to fight with a barista, she found her voice and it turns out her voice is Karen at the drive thru. I did the same thing with a quiet side character once and now he won't stop explaining his sourdough starter to people who did not ask. Some prompts are just a door you can't close again.
