Just realized nobody in writing prompts knows how to write an actual argument scene
I keep seeing these prompts where two characters are mad at each other but they just say stuff like 'how could you' and 'you know what you did.' That's not an argument man, that's a summary of an argument. Real fights have weird tangents, someone brings up that thing from 3 years ago, people interrupt each other, and sometimes the real issue doesn't even come up until the end. I had this happen last week with my roommate over dishes, we argued about plates for 20 minutes before he finally said he felt like I never appreciated him cleaning the bathroom. The actual prompt I posted in the monthly challenge got no comments though. Has anyone else noticed how afraid writers are of letting characters actually be messy and illogical during conflict?
