I was writing the same character for three years until a kid in my library group pointed it out
Every prompt I used, I'd make the main character a grumpy old man in a small town, like my Walter from Cedar Bluff. A ten-year-old in my local library's writing club just asked me last week why all my stories had 'the same grumpy grandpa'. It never clicked for me until she said that. Has anyone else gotten stuck in a character rut and found a good way to break out of it?

What's the worst thing that could happen if you tried writing from a kid's point of view instead?

Kids are brutally honest, maybe try writing from that ten-year-old's point of view next.
