Unpopular opinion: I switched from crunchy to smooth peanut butter for my midnight toast and never looked back

After 42 years of swearing by chunky, I grabbed a jar of smooth by accident last Tuesday and now I can't believe I spent decades picking peanut bits out of my teeth for no reason, has anyone else made a switch like this that totally changed a comfort food for them?

Wait, does this mean you're not using the leftover bacon grease to fry your PB toast anymore? Because I found that smooth peanut butter actually caramelizes way better in the pan than chunky ever did, like the even thickness lets it get this crispy golden crust that just hits different.

oh man this whole thread is making me realize something about how we get stuck in our ways, and it's not just about peanut butter. I've been noticing this pattern everywhere lately where we cling to the "hard way" of doing things just because that's how we've always done it, and then one accidental change shows us we were just making life harder for no good reason. Like I used to insist on chopping vegetables by hand because my grandma did it that way, then I finally used a food processor and literally cried a little over all those wasted hours of my life lost to uneven carrot cubes. It's like we build up these little rituals around food and convince ourselves the process matters more than the result, when really most of the time the simpler version works just as good if not better. Smooth peanut butter is definitely one of those cases where the even spread changes the whole experience without losing anything real. Crazy how a tiny accidental change can make you question your whole approach to things you thought you had figured out.

Threw some smooth peanut butter on my toast with a sprinkle of cinnamon and brown sugar last night after reading @richard_dixon's bacon grease trick, and I gotta say the even spread lets the sugar melt into this perfect little crust that chunky could never do. Never thought I'd be team smooth but now I'm wondering what other foods I've been overcomplicating for no good reason. The midnight toast game has seriously leveled up.
