Rant: Why does everyone hate on microwave nachos like they're a crime?

I made a plate of microwave nachos last Tuesday after my stove broke, and my roommate acted like I'd committed a sin. I just layer tortilla chips, shredded cheddar, and a splash of salsa from that jar in the fridge, then nuke it for 45 seconds. It's warm, gooey, and ready in under a minute, so why do people insist oven-baked is the only way? Has anyone else gotten flak for using the microwave over the oven?

I've been making microwave nachos for years during late coding sessions and they hit the spot every time. The trick is spreading the chips in a single layer on a paper plate, using pre-shredded Mexican blend cheese, and adding a dollop of canned refried beans in the center before nuking for 45 seconds flat. My roommate gave me grief too until I made him a plate one night and he admitted it was better than cold chips and cheese dip.
