PSA: Grits and sugar is a sin, but I gave it a real shot
I grew up in South Carolina and always ate grits with salt and pepper. My roommate from Georgia was horrified and dared me to try it with sugar and butter for a week straight. After day 3, I actually started craving the sweet version, it was weird but it grew on me. By day 7, I went back to savory grits and felt a lot better, but now I get why some folks argue about it. Anyone else been converted to a "wrong" comfort food for a bit and then switched back?

Figured out that folks tend to stick with what they grew up eating and anything different feels wrong at first. Tried putting ranch dressing on pizza after a buddy swore by it and actually ate it that way for a couple weeks before going back to normal. It's like our brains just need time to adjust before rejecting something new.

Hear you loud and clear on that, @mark361. Remember when my daughter first made me try pineapple on pizza back in the 90s? Took a solid month of forcing myself to eat it before I actually started liking it. Now I crave it sometimes. Our taste buds really do need time to get with the program before they accept something new.
