My sister called my favorite snack 'prison food' and now I'm mad about it
We were at my place last weekend and I made my go-to comfort bowl: instant ramen, but I drain almost all the broth and stir in a big spoon of peanut butter and some sriracha. She watched me do it and said, 'That looks like something you'd make in a cell with a hot pot.' It was just a joke, but it stuck with me. Why does something so cheap and cozy have to be seen as weird or sad? I've been eating it since college, and it hits the spot every time. Does anyone else have a 'weird' combo they have to defend to their family?

What's wrong with prison food anyway? Your combo sounds legit, peanut butter makes everything creamy and the sriracha gives it a kick. My brother gives me grief for putting ketchup on my scrambled eggs, but it's a perfect salty-sweet mix. People just hate on good, simple stuff sometimes.

My uncle used to put ketchup on his eggs and got the same grief. The trick is to own it and just say it tastes good. People stop arguing when you don't act like it's a debate.

Why do people act like there's a rulebook for food? I see it with pizza toppings all the time, someone puts pineapple on and everyone loses their mind. It's just mixing flavors you like.
