My husband gagged when I made my favorite grilled cheese with grape jelly last Tuesday

I've been eating it since I was a kid in Omaha, and it's the perfect mix of salty and sweet when you're stressed. What's the weirdest thing you put on a sandwich?

Whoa, hold on, I gotta call something out here. Adam, you said cold fries on a sub are "soggy disappointment," but that's backwards. Hot fries get soggy under all that bread and meat, man. Cold fries are dry and hold their crunch way better. They're like a built-in crouton situation. You're telling me you'd rather have a warm, steamy fry turn to mush in there? That's the real crime against lunch. You gotta respect the starchy crunch, it's a textural miracle.

Okay, grape jelly on grilled cheese is a bold move, but I get the salty-sweet thing. My weird one is leftover cold french fries on a turkey sub, it adds a weird starchy crunch. Tell your husband to try it before he knocks it, the worst that happens is he makes his own boring sandwich.

Cold fries on a sub is where I draw the line. That weird starchy crunch you mentioned just sounds like soggy disappointment. The texture is all wrong, mixing cold potato with fresh bread and meat. @the_jana, I have to side with your husband on this one, some experiments are better left untried. A boring sandwich is at least honest food, not a crime against lunch.
