My grandma's tuna noodle casserole got called 'depression food' at a potluck in Ohio
Last month at a church potluck in Dayton, a guy looked at my grandma's tuna noodle casserole with crushed potato chips on top and said, 'man, that's like depression food.' Thing is, she made that same dish every Friday for 40 years because it cost about $6 to feed seven people, and I still make it when I'm broke or just missing her. Does anyone else have a cheap family recipe people have called sad when it's really just a different kind of comfort?
