My friend in Denver said my cottage cheese on toast was a crime

She saw me make it and said it looked like wet socks on bread. I used to just slap it on cold, but now I mix in a little everything bagel seasoning and a tiny bit of honey first. It makes it way creamier and less weird looking. What's a weird food combo you had to defend and then make better?

Genuinely disgusting" feels like a strong way to put it. It's just food, not something harmful. People get weird about food combos they aren't used to. I've tried some strange mixes that ended up being fine. Maybe it's just not for you, but calling it disgusting is a bit much.
