Kraft singles do not belong on a proper burger and I'll die on that hill
After my brother put a single slice of that plasticy orange stuff on my dry aged patty at the cookout last weekend, I seriously considered taking my plate and eating in my truck instead, anyone else find this stuff completely ruins the whole point of a good cheeseburger?

Whoa hold up, I gotta push back a little on the "proper burger" thing though. I get it, that plasticy single slice is trash on a good patty, no argument there. But you said "proper burger" like there's only one way to build one. A proper burger is whatever you want it to be, a dry aged patty with real cheddar is one thing, but sometimes a cheap smash burger with that same Kraft slice hits perfect. The real issue is your brother putting it on without asking, that's the crime here, not the cheese itself.

You're spot on @grant_foster79, honestly you just made me rethink my whole stance on cheese slices.

Man I had a buddy do the exact same thing to me once. We were grilling out and he just starts flipping through my cheese drawer and slaps a slice of provolone on my burger without saying a word. I was so mad I didn't even eat it at first but then I was hungry and it actually wasn't bad just different you know? What worked for me was I told him straight up next time just ask first and now he does. It's not like we're best friends over it but he got the message and the burgers are better for it.
