Hot dog slices in mac and cheese is comfort perfection

My family thinks I'm crazy for cutting up hot dogs and mixing them into my mac and cheese. But I grew up eating this in Youngstown, Ohio where money was tight and we made what worked. The salty snap of the hot dog against the creamy cheese is just unbeatable. Am I the only one who grew up eating this combo?

Oh man, you are definitely not crazy lmao. People act like hot dogs are some fancy gourmet ingredient now but that combo is a classic for a reason. The way the little slices get all crispy on the edges while the cheese sauce coats everything is pure magic. Your family probably just never had to survive on a tight grocery budget like we did in the Midwest lol. Tell them to try it before they knock it, and if they still judge you, just eat their portion too.
