Cold canned tamales right out of the can is peak comfort food

I know this sounds disgusting but I swear by it. I spent $3.50 on a can of these at the grocery store in Portland last month and ate them straight from the can with a fork. The gelatinous sauce is weirdly cozy and it reminds me of camping trips with my dad. Anyone else have a weird no-cook comfort food that people judge you for?

Is calling cold canned tamales "peak" really the hill you want to die on though?

My dad used to say the only thing worse than a cold tamale is a cold opinion about tamales. He'd eat them straight from the can on camping trips and call it fine dining. So I guess if alicesingh wants to defend the honor of hot tamales, I respect the commitment even if I think canned ones have their own strange place in the world.

That "peak" word got me... reminds me of my buddy Dave who ate a cold canned tamale on a bet and swore it was the best thing he'd ever had. He was lying though, I could see it in his eyes.
