Canned tuna on buttered toast - am I a monster?

Last month I was at my buddy's place in Denver and made myself a late night snack: canned tuna mixed with mayo on buttered toast, microwaved for 30 seconds. He looked at me like I'd committed a crime against food. I swear it's a comfort thing from my childhood, but everyone I've told about it since then says it sounds disgusting. It's just warm, salty, and buttery - what's not to like? Has anyone else got a weird warm fish dish that gets them roasted?

I read somewhere that warm fish sandwiches are actually a thing in parts of Europe so you're not as crazy as your friend thinks. They do like their sardines on buttered bread over there and nobody bats an eye. But microwaving tuna with mayo sounds like a texture nightmare to me, I gotta be honest. Like the mayo gets all weird and separated, doesn't it? I can see the appeal of warm salty butter though, that part's fine.

Agree with you @paigep20 on the mayo thing. That's the worst part. Once you heat up mayo it turns into this oily, grainy mess that coats your tongue wrong. I've tried it once and never again. The warm buttered bread part is actually pretty smart though. Think about it like a really basic version of a melted tuna melt but without the cheese. Just toast the bread first with some butter in a pan, then flake your tuna right on top while it's still hot. That way the tuna gets warm from the bread but the texture stays normal. No weird mayo surprises to deal with.
