Warning: my editorial calendar app deleted 6 months of drafts last week

Last Tuesday I opened my trusty calendar tool to plan next month's posts and everything was gone. Not just the schedule, but the actual drafted content I had saved in the notes section. I had been using it for 3 years without a backup, figured the cloud sync was doing its job. Turns out a silent update rolled out that week broke the sync feature, and when the app crashed, it wiped the local cache. I lost around 40 partial articles, including a series I was building on seasonal topics for Q4. Support said the data was unrecoverable, and I had no export file because I never bothered to set one up. Has anyone else had a similar meltdown with a calendar or planning app, and what do you use now that actually backs up your drafts automatically?
