Used to write 2000 word blog posts until I saw my bounce rate

I was driving for a local delivery company and spent my downtime writing long blog articles for my side business. Thought more words meant more value. Then I checked analytics one night and saw people were leaving after 30 seconds on a post I spent 4 hours on. Switched to 500 word posts with short paragraphs and bullet points. Traffic went up 60% in two months. Anyone else cut their word count and see better results?

What made you finally check your analytics? I used to think longer posts were better too but seeing the numbers really changed my mind.
