Update: my blog traffic dropped 60% after I changed my posting schedule from twice a week to once a week last month
I thought quality over quantity would work better, but now I'm wondering if consistency matters more than the actual content, has anyone else seen a sharp drop after cutting back frequency?

Holy crap, 60% drop just from going once a week? That's brutal. I would have thought twice a week was pushing it for some blogs, but clearly the algorithm or your readers really liked that regular fix. Did you maybe change anything else at the same time, like the time you post or what you write about? I've heard people say even the day of the week matters a ton.

I read somewhere that consistency matters more than frequency for algorithms, so maybe dropping to once a week signaled to the system that the blog wasn't as active anymore. A friend of mine also tested posting on different days and saw big swings, like Tuesday vs. Friday made a 30% difference for her. Have you found any specific day or time that worked better for you when you were posting more often?
