Took me 6 months to realize my blog posts were too long for mobile
I spent months writing these detailed 2,000 word posts, but my bounce rate was at 85%. Finally checked my analytics and saw most readers on phones were leaving after 30 seconds. Anyone else have to completely rethink their content length for mobile users?

Started noticing the same thing when I was checking my own site stats last month. The long paragraphs I was writing looked fine on desktop but on a phone they turned into these giant walls of text people clearly didn't want to read. I tried shortening everything to like 300 words with lots of line breaks and saw my mobile readers actually sticking around for more than 10 seconds.

Those 300 word posts with extra spacing seem to work like magic on mobile. I cut my own posts down to around 250 words and the read time jumped up like crazy. Funny how less text actually keeps people reading longer, isn't it?

The 250 word cut made a huge difference on my own blog too. I noticed my bounce rate dropped by about 15% after I started trimming posts down. It's wild how people on phones will just bounce if they see a massive block of text. Breaking it up with spaces and short paragraphs really does keep them scrolling. I think a lot of us overestimate how much time people actually have to read online.
