Pitched 17 ideas to a client, they picked the one I wrote in 5 minutes

Last month I spent three weeks building out a full content calendar for a SaaS client in Austin. I gave them 17 options with different angles, formats, and SEO hooks. They went with a throwaway idea I literally jotted down while waiting for coffee, no research behind it at all. Now they want more stuff like it and I can't explain why that one worked. Has anyone else had clients ignore the strategy and grab the random offhand suggestion?
