My coworker asked why we publish 12 blogs a month and I couldn't give her a real answer
She pulled up our analytics and showed me 9 of them got under 40 reads each while one old post from 2022 still brings in most of our traffic. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should kill the whole calendar or just write fewer things people actually want.
Been there and it stings. Finding out most of your work is basically shouting into the void while some random post from two years ago quietly pays the bills is a real gut punch. The worst part is nobody ever tells you the calendar itself might be the problem, they just hand you a number like 12 is sacred. Forty reads on nine posts means you wrote for an audience of almost nobody, and that old 2022 post probably worked because it answered a real question instead of hitting a quota. Maybe split the difference: cut the calendar way down and spend the freed up time updating that one old winner or writing one thing a month that actually helps someone. Twelve posts nobody reads is just noise with extra steps.
