The envelope system I swore would never work
I laughed when my friend in Austin told me she still uses cash envelopes for groceries and fun money. But after overspending by $400 in a single month on takeout alone, I figured I had nothing to lose trying it. Three months later and I've actually stuck to my food budget every single week. Has anyone else had success with a method they thought was outdated?

But doesn't all that cash just get lost or stolen eventually... I had a friend who lost her whole grocery envelope on the bus and that was it for the month. Plus banks don't give you rewards points or cash back when you use actual money, so you're basically leaving free money on the table. Seems like a lot of hassle for something a budgeting app can do automatically without the risk of a physical envelope going missing.
