The $47 grocery trip that broke my meal plan habit

Honestly, I used to think meal planning meant spending all Sunday cooking fancy stuff. Then last month I grabbed a rotisserie chicken, a bag of frozen veggies, and some rice for $47 total. I realized I'd been overbuying fresh herbs and sauces for weeks just to feel organized. That one simple trip lasted me 5 lunches and I didn't toss a single shriveled pepper. Anyone else find that the 'boring' grocery list is actually the budget winner?

The "shriveled pepper" line got me because that's literally (pun intended) been my kitchen's sad little mascot for years. I was all about buying those fancy prepped meal kits and exotic spices, convinced that's what adulting looked like. Then I did the exact same thing with a chicken and some basics, and honestly felt a little dumb for how easy it was. Now I get why people joke about being excited for a boring grocery run, it's like the universe finally lets you keep your money and your sanity at the same time.
